PhotoPorter is built to do one thing: help you copy photos and videos
from a connected iPhone or iPad to a folder on your Mac. This policy
describes, plainly, what that involves.
What PhotoPorter does
When you connect an iPhone or iPad, PhotoPorter uses Apple's
ImageCaptureCore framework to list the photos and videos on that device.
This only happens while a device is physically connected and
unlocked/trusted by you.
When you choose to copy items, PhotoPorter writes them to a
destination folder you select. That folder can be a local drive or an
external/network volume mounted on your Mac.
PhotoPorter keeps a small local record of what it has already copied
(filename, file size, date, and a content fingerprint/hash) so that
reconnecting a device — or connecting a different device with the same
photos synced via iCloud — doesn't require re-copying files you already
have. This record is stored only in PhotoPorter's own private storage
area on your Mac.
What PhotoPorter does not do
PhotoPorter does not send your photos, videos, or any file contents
to us or to any third party. Nothing is uploaded anywhere by the app
itself.
PhotoPorter does not require or use an account, login, or internet
connection for its core functionality.
PhotoPorter does not include analytics, advertising, or third-party
tracking SDKs of any kind.
The local transfer history described above never leaves your Mac.
We (the developer) cannot see it, and it is not transmitted
anywhere.
Data retained on your device
The destination folder you choose is remembered (via macOS's
standard security-scoped bookmark mechanism) so you don't have to
re-select it every time. You can change or reset this at any time from
within the app.
The local transfer history is stored in PhotoPorter's sandboxed
Application Support directory and can be removed by deleting the app
(standard macOS app sandbox cleanup applies).
Permissions PhotoPorter requests
Access to connected cameras/devices (via macOS's Image Capture
system), used only to browse and copy media from a device you've
connected and unlocked yourself.
Access to a folder you select, used only to write the files you
asked to be copied.
Changes to this policy
If PhotoPorter's data practices change in a future update, this policy
will be updated accordingly before that update ships.
No warranty and limitation of liability
PhotoPorter is provided "AS IS," without warranty of any kind. You are
responsible for verifying that your files were copied correctly and for
keeping your own backups before deleting anything from a connected
